A Fed hike and an exact 25-basis-point hike are different predictions

Read the reference rate, comparison baseline and decision window before picking an outcome.

Prediction Master · References checked

This case compares the upper bound of the target rate range before and after a specified meeting. A move in the expected direction is not enough if the selected outcome specifies a different size.

Separate direction, size and meeting

A question about any increase is broader than a question about an increase of exactly 25 basis points. The latter fixes a direction, a size and a decision. Getting the general direction right does not make every option in that direction correct.

Twenty-five basis points means 0.25 percentage points. Keep that unit separate from a percentage change in a rate. Translating the title into a plain numerical comparison is a useful first check.

Identify the actual reference

At the reference check date, the linked market uses the upper bound of the federal funds target range around its specified December meeting. The Federal Reserve calendar lists December 8–9 for its 2026 meeting. Recheck the calendar and the market rules if either changes.

A bond yield or commentary about future policy can inform a view, but it is not the reference outcome. If the source specifies how to classify an unusual-sized change, apply that rule rather than inventing a rounding convention.

Make a prediction that can be challenged

Write down the exact outcome you expect, which public information supports it, and what development would weaken your view. This separates a broad policy opinion from the much narrower outcome represented by one option.

A displayed probability reflects the source market at that time. It is not a frequency guaranteed by this app. A higher potential XP reward describes the in-app difficulty curve, not a reason to prefer an unlikely outcome.

Review the decision afterwards

Record the relevant official decision, the two reference values, their difference and the final source resolution. Reviewing direction and size separately teaches more than recording only a win or loss.

This article explains how to read a question; it does not assert an inevitable meeting result or recommend a trade. The case remains educational after its participation window closes. Current event conditions and source rules take precedence.
